Graduate success stories

SAM BARRY Bachelor of Media and Communication
“We’ve decided to do an interactive cheese experience,” Bachelor of Media and Communication student Sam Barry said at the 2022 Creative Lab event. You walk into a room, you’re presented with pieces of music and art inspired by a particular type of cheese, to allow you to experience the cheese without actually tasting it. Although, you do actually get to taste it as well.”

Kellie Andrews Bachelor of Media and Communication
“At the beginning I was absolutely terrified because, I do think I’m a creative person, but I suffer from a lot of self-doubt,” she said “Now I have a bit more confidence around my creativity and my ideas being valuable, from the really encouraging feedback from my teacher and other students. That’s what our working life will be like, collaborating with different people from different fields with different expertise. Learning to problem-solve with other people and come up with creative ideas is a skill we can use virtually anywhere.”

Naarah Barnes - Bachelor of Music
“I was singing before I was talking and dancing before I was walking.” she said “There are some huge Australian television names,” she said of the cast of Deadloch, written by comedy duo Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney and produced by Guesswork Television. “But it also showcases Tasmania and the talent we have down here.”

application process
How to apply to this college?
Step 1: Find a course Student can apply for up to five courses at once. Unlike other states, there is no charge to apply as a domestic student to the University of Tasmania.
Step 2: Have a diverse range of choice even after determining the preferred course of study. Maximize the chances of success by applying to multiple programs of interest, with a maximum of five options. If there is uncertainty about the likelihood of being accepted into a specific program, seeking guidance from student advisors is advised.
Step 3: Check the dates Before applying, it’s important to check the key admission dates to know when applications are open, when semesters begin, and more.
Step 4: Make sure to meet entry requirements To be eligible for enrollment in the courses, certain criteria must be met. The necessary entry requirements can be found in the designated section on the course page for further information.
In addition, meeting one of the following conditions is required: completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent, or being 17 years or older and applying based on prior study or work experience.
For the majority of courses, admission is determined by ATAR score or ranking, calculated from academic and professional background. If there is any doubt about meeting the entry requirements or the ATAR/rank score, seeking clarification from the relevant authority is advised.
Step 5: Apply for a scholarship Academic excellence is not a requirement for obtaining financial aid for studies. A wide variety of scholarships are available, and all individuals are encouraged to apply.
Step 6: Check the eligibility for recognition for prior learning Prior study or work experience may be recognized as credit towards the course, potentially reducing the number of required course units and hastening graduation.
Separate applications are necessary to receive credit for prior learning (advanced standing), so it is important to review the application requirements and deadline.
Step 7: Offer Acceptance Upon completion of the application assessment, notification of acceptance will be provided. If accepted, acceptance of the offer can be secured by following the instructions outlined in the offer letter.
In the event of not receiving an offer, alternative study options can be explored by seeking guidance from the relevant authority.
