The aim of Graduate Studio 2, is to explore personally experimental creation. In order for creative projects to be interesting to audiences and the creatives who make them, they need to have a difference. Differences come from the unique and the individual. This studio is about exploring the edges of your comfort zone as a creative, to discover what new viewpoints, art forms, and processes you can include in your creative practice.
In this unit, you extend your ability to apply a quality process to the development of a creative media project in an online environment. Variously described as virtual or distributed teams projects, you will be developing your skills in remote practice. You will create iterative elements that are accountable to an agreed targeted brief. You will demonstrate how all stages of a creative production, from concept to delivery and reflection, can be achieved in an entirely online context.
The Diploma of 3D Animation has been created in a way that gives you plenty of face-to-face time with a network of expert creative practitioners and an opportunity to apply theory and best practices using the latest tools and software.
You’ll work in a team to pitch, design, plan and deliver a game in response to a brief. Your project will extend your design and scripting skills sets, to allow you to craft a broader range of gameplay systems and features.

Dr. Magali McDuffie
Magali has worked as a filmmaker and academic researcher for over fifteen years. Her films have been screened on Australian National Television, Indigenous Community Television, and numerous national and international film festivals. Magali also has 10 years of experience in the education industry; she worked as a lecturer at the University of Canberra before joining SAE.

Kevin Hay
Kevin has been making and recording music since he was a teenager. For years, he has played in bands, exhibited sound art in galleries, recorded all over the place, worked with plug-in developers and sample pack providers, and has been on many beta-testing teams. He is currently a lecturer at SAE Byron Bay.

Dr. Anne Chesher
Dr. Anne is one of Australia’s leading authorities on merging screen content and learning. As a creative media producer in the screen industry, she has produced educational content and resources for international networks, broadcasters, and production houses. She has also collaborated with ABC Made to design and build Upstart – an internship program for emerging creatives.

Dr. Toby Wren
Toby Wren is a composer, improviser, and researcher. In the past year, he has published several pieces, including an article in the journal Critical Studies in Improvisation (Wren & Vaidyanathan, 2020) and an essay in a co-edited book called Here and Now (2018). He also presents keynote addresses at conferences around the world. Dr. Wren is currently a senior lecturer at SAE Institute and runs postgraduate programs on Music Composition and Production.
