Combine your artistic abilities with technical skills through our 2D Animation and Digital Art Program. Draw and design your own characters and bring them to life through animation, sound, and storytelling. The certificate program is designed for those with post-secondary education to take specialized journalism and communications training at an accelerated pace. This intensive, skills-oriented experience is designed to build on a student’s academic background, providing the student with the tools to work as a well-informed journalist or professional communicator. The first semester focuses on introductory and basic skills courses; the second semester on advanced practices.

The Graphic Novel and Comix Certificate Program is a full-time evening program for students who want to pursue a career as a comic book creator. There are 17 courses that explore traditional and digital mediums. You will learn to work with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Clip Studio Paint Pro software. You will also learn lettering, layout, and colour applications for comic book art. Examine critical business issues such as publishing, self-promotion, copyright, and contract laws for graphic novelists.

The two-year diploma program is intended for those with or without previous post-secondary experience, in which students will take a combination of journalism, communications, and liberal arts courses. There will be a mandatory foundation of introductory journalism and communications courses. Students will also have the choice to concentrate on advanced journalism, advanced communications, as well as non-journalism subjects. An internship in the final term is a required component of the program.

The Certificate in Art History is intended for students in all disciplines who are interested in developing visual literacy, an indispensable skill that will allow them to recognize, interpret, and appreciate meaning in our image-saturated world.

The Diploma in Arts and Science requirements allow for considerable flexibility in the choice of courses that a student may complete. Students can design their curriculum to meet their own needs or interests or to meet the requirements for further study.

The Langara Fine Arts diploma is a strong 2-year foundation that emphasizes hands-on skills, materiality and ethical practices within a supportive community of makers, learners and thinkers.

Langara College’s Creative Writing program explores poetry, prose, fiction, non-fiction, and stageplay. In a reading and writing-rich environment, you will be challenged to express yourself through different voices as you study a variety of forms and techniques.

The Film Arts program is for dedicated students committed to imaginative exploration and to honing and upgrading their skills and knowledge in film.

Courses in film studies, industry practices, the principles and business of film production, and career preparation will give students in all streams the knowledge to embark on creative film careers.

Studio 58 is the professional theatre training program at Langara College, located in Vancouver, British Columbia. We offer nationally-recognized training for both actors and production personnel. Studio 58 offers three-year programs for Acting and Production.

The Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA) program is offered by Capilano University and Douglas College. The program is a degree completion program (fourth year) that is currently being hosted at Capilano University.

Design Formation is a two-year, multidisciplinary foundation design program that prepares students for further specialized studies or entry-level jobs in fields ranging from visual merchandising to event, graphic, or interior design.

(Note: Students can take electives and English/communications courses before they start the program)

This two-year post-baccalaureate diploma program that focuses on web and mobile app design and development, from concept to deployment. The program encompasses visual aesthetics (including typography, colour theory, and graphics), client and server programming, user experience design, and project management.

We have published authors in both academic and creative areas, but with our small classes and dedication to the needs of individual students, instruction has always been our department’s priority.

With the opportunity to explore and design your own academic program, your studies will culminate in a two-year Associate of Arts Degree. You will have the opportunity to choose your specialization areas and tailor the curriculum to your needs.

This two-year program is designed for students who wish to study university engineering, but do not yet meet all the pre-requisites, or who need time to transition into the heavy workload that the study of engineering requires

The Professional Photography program is a two-year diploma offering hands-on, comprehensive training that provides graduates with the skills to achieve success in a career in the photographic industry. Students have access to a wide range of specialized photographic equipment and are supported by faculty and staff representing a diverse range of experience. This program is intensive and provides the opportunity to develop a comprehensive portfolio.

Computer Science is the study of computers, computation, automation, and information. The discipline is vast and has overlap with many other disciplines (ex. Computer Science + Biology = Bioinformatics). In general, computer scientists usually work with software and software systems, and the programming of thereof. Programming is one main element of Computer Science.

The Internet and Web Technology Certificate program emphasizes web development and computing and provides a solid foundation for the technical side of e-business. There is no computing knowledge required to be accepted to this program.

Langara College offers two Data Analytics programs. Both programs allow students to gain experience handling data using industry-standard software applications and have ample opportunity fine-tuning their soft skills to effectively communicate their findings.

The Department of Computer Science offers a Diploma in Computer Studies. The Diploma in Computer Studies can be completed in two years*, and offers a foundation in computer science and information systems education. The program covers topics including program design, systems analysis and design, fundamentals of microcomputers, web development, networking, and more.

Accounting and Financial Management professionals are the backbone of any organization and Langara grads are ready to meet that challenge. The BBA Accounting Concentration includes the requirements needed to maximize exemptions for the CPA BC “CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)”.

The Financial Management Diploma offers students who are not planning on pursuing a CPA designation the flexibility to choose electives from other business areas and/or non-business courses.

The Post-Degree Diploma in Accounting (PDD-AC) is for students who hold a bachelor’s degree and wish to pursue a career in accounting. Applicants who do not hold a degree in business or commerce are advised that this is a very rigorous program.

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is a four-year baccalaureate degree in business for students interested in careers in the fields of Accounting, Business, and Marketing. The degree provides a solid foundation of theory and practical knowledge with specialized courses in each of the three concentrations.

The Diploma in Arts and Science (Commerce) Program provides courses needed for equivalency to pre-Commerce and first-year Commerce. The diploma program in place at Langara College is geared more specifically to UBC, but if space is available and with some amendments, this program also facilitates transfer to SFU and UVic.

The Associate of Arts in Commerce and Business Studies provides courses needed for equivalency to first and second-year Commerce and Business Administration at SFU, UBC and UVIC. (Please consult with a counsellor regarding requirements.) Students may also apply to bridge into the 3rd year of Langara’s BBA program.
